Wind power developer uses threat to influence environmental agency Ottawa Wind Concerns

“Power developer announcement it is about to clear land which is habitat for an endangered species is an attempt to force the Environmental Review Tribunal to issue a decision on the Prince Edward County wind power project, and proposed “remedies” for species at risk”

“The Environmental Review Tribunal determined the Blandings Turtle was endangered by the wind farm; the company is proceeding with construction in the absence of a final decision.”

I had almost given up blogging (breaking wind), when Ms Wynne-lose gave us all a reason to keep blogging on (KBO, as Churchill used to say).

Never trust a Liberal, however, when he, she or it makes a promise. The Wynne-lose government never outdoes itself when it says it is helping the consumer, this time by reducing Hydro Bills by the 8% PST (rates will go up by more than that in the coming round of rate hikes, even more when added to the pending Carbon Tax.

We are still getting shafted, and have been shafted continuously from the initiation of McGuinty’s hare-brained Green Energy policies. I am still chafed by the fact that the gov’t’s “fart catchers” (as the defunct Frank magazine used to call them) never blinked when those policies produced legislation that eviscerated local political autonomy by imposing a Green Energy Act that disenfranchised electors from the process by prohibiting them a yea or nay in the planning, placement and operation of Wynne Turbines and Solar farms. Such a totalitarian imposition WAS PROOF ENOUGH THAT A BOGUS SYSTEM OF POWER GENERATION WAS BEING FORCED ON AN UNWILLING CITIZENRY (except in the “progressive” urban areas where no one was going to be affected by the monster whirlygigs, nor was anyone going to tell them that the monsters would produce unneeded power). Part of the Fart Catcher contingent was going to profit immensely from the scam, the wind developers. All of this was done by robbing tax payers and then giving away the product at less than the cost of production so that the billions wasted could never be recouped.

Ontario Wind Resistance has demonstrated how rural Ontario has been shafted, lo these many years, by a lying, cheating and stealing government of some of the people: “They overrode local planning rights by passing the Green Energy Act of 2009 under Wynne’s predecessor, Dalton McGuinty, then rammed industrial wind factories down their throats.” Then there are the human costs, the health problems, the deep destruction of flora and fauna, and the list goes on.

Yes, the end is still far, but now a little closer (if the main Opposition in Provincial Parliament can stop stumbling over its own stupidity).

WCO on Mandatory Support

Municipal Support must be manadatory for wind power contract bids! says Wind Concerns Ontario in its latest media release: Wind Concerns Ontario submitted a series of recommendations to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) as part of the “engagement” process on the Large Renewable Procurement (LRP) process on May 3rd.

In its letter to the IESO, WCO stated unequivocally, The key issue is: neither the government nor participants in the procurement process have listened to valid community concerns or displayed any learning from problems created by the existing projects. Most people in rural Ontario seem to know more about the impact of wind turbines (economic, environmental, societal) than the people proposing projects, who continue to use outdated and limited information to support their proposals. Far from streamlining the process, the Green Energy and Economy Act has created a confrontational environment. Based on local activities such as municipal resolutions, public demonstrations and media stories, it is clear this situation is not going to change until provincial government agencies deal seriously with the problems that have been created by wind turbine projects to date.

Highlights of WCO Recommendations:
Qualification of bidders
Failure to deliver past projects on time should result in disqualification of bidders
Community engagement
“Engagement” should not be confused with “support”
Site considerations
IESO needs to do an independent technical review of proponent submissions
Municipal support
Full documentation should be provided to municipalities prior to bid submission…
Again, a resolution of support from a municipality must be a mandatory requirement for a bid in the RFP process

Brant County Being Set Up

Brant County is being set up for Scam and the Green Lie!  Samsung wants to talk the County into a partnership.

Brant to Get the Green Wash (Michael-Allan Marion, reporting)

Here’s some links to info on Samsung and their particular brand of service ot the community”:

BRANT, beware, you are being conned to join in the Wynne-lose game that costs taxpayers billions and keeps power rates in Ontario at an unprecedented high!
Samsung is selling Green Illusions and peddling the Green Lie! EASY to do, of course, when the provincial government is paying you to do it!!!

Samsung gets to keep the profits provided by Ontario Taxpayers (Green Energy does NOT, cannot make money, so the profits are provided), AND Ontario sells off Green generated power at less than the cost of production to jurisdictions outside of Ontario and Canada. It’s BUDGETING, the Ontario way!

“The color of sleaze is no longer black, rather it is green.”

German magazine, Der Spiegel, has turned a spotlight onto Germany’s “Green Sleaze”, the Wind Industry’s corruption of the environmental movement and local politicians:

“Enoch zu Guttenberg, one of Germany’s most prolific environmentalists has become an outspoken critic of wind energy in Germany, and believes children in the future will be able to see Germany’s idyllic landscape only in paintings as developers clear hill-top forests to make way for skyscraper-size industrial wind turbines.” by Pierre L. Gosselin.

“The environmental movement has become so disunified, Spiegel writes, that once diehard nuclear energy opponents have now switched to protesting wind turbines, as many planning boards ignore concerns of the citizens and attempt to steamroll projects through against the public will.”

Sound familiar, the attempt to steamroll projects through against the will of the people? Just like the Wynne Industry’s Green Sleaze?
“This is how it works at many communities, Spiegel describes. Often the nearby residents and citizens pay heftily through lost property values, health issues from infrasound, and high electricity prices. Invariably only very few benefit at all.”

So, Ontario is not unique: it has also Green Sleaze, and Gas Sleaze, Political Fund raising Sleaze, Climate Change and Carbon Tax Sleaze, and a GTA that will vote the “Sleazers” back in.

Who Pays To Tear It Down?

When an Industrial Wynne Turbine has to be taken down, for whatever reason, who pays for the teardown?[OntarioWindResistance]. Read original article in Farmers Forum: Who ponies up for Wind Turbine Teardown?.

Technically, and politically, it’s called “decommissioning”. The problem is not limited to the present but extends out 20 years, to the so-called lifespan of turbines; “decommissioning’ then becomes a problem, who does it and who pays for it?

“Many of these companies are relatively small or based outside of Canada and that creates what appears to be a real risk as there will be no pocket you can go to 20 years from now when a cleanup is actually required,” says Eric Gillespie, who has represented landowners and municipalities with wind turbine concerns. [FF]

Who’s left in this case? Landowners, municipalities, taxpayers. Wynne Turbines can weigh as much as 70 tonnes; a farmer and his tractor can’t take them down anymore than can the local municipality. World-wide costs for doing the job range from $30,000 to $80,000 per turbine. Developers need to present plans for turbine teardowns when they make their project proposals.

There is already a good model in place, says Gillespie. Under the Environmental Protection Act, the government will ask for financial assurance if there is a risk of adverse effects that could require remedial work. A letter of credit or security is required up front.
“Anything other than that might keep lawyers busy for a long time but won’t help communities. It’s about addressing the issue now rather than waiting for the end and crossing your fingers. It should be the companies that are earning the profits that have to pay the bill.”
[FF, emphasis added]

The costs of decommissioning would be an unbearable burden were they to be foisted on the municipalities. For the smallest ones, like Wainfleet, it would be a fatal burden. Any sensible opinion would state that the Province should have a decommissioning plan in place for Wynne Turbines, so that unwilling host communities will not be doubly burdened or taxed for these namesake Turbines.

Wainfleet, Hit Again

Construction impact [OWR] of Wynne Turbines hitting home in Wainfleet [Port Colborne Leader – Read article].

“There is no notice,” said Concession 6 property owner LeaAnne Robins, who has seen construction devastate roadside trees in front of her property. “They’ve massacred all the 80-year-old oaks on the road,” she said, explaining she expects construction of transmission towers to follow the clear cutting.

Construction has repeatedly blocked access at the north end of the road, forcing residents to take long detours.
“The school bus won’t even come down the road,” said Scott Murphy, whose four-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter now have to walk about a half kilometer through a construction zone to catch the bus.
“At one time they had both ends of the road blocked,” said Murphy, adding he is concerned that in an emergency situation first responders may be delayed or even prevented in reaching the area.

In olden days, it was called rape and pillage: rape of the land and pillage of property!
The leader of the gang is the person for whom the IWT’s are named: Industrial Wynne Turbines.

Greed Energy runs roughshod over rights and responsibilities, doing things even Hydro wouldn’t or couldn’t legally do.

Earth Does Not Get The Message

“Countries and companies around the globe have spent trillions of dollars to stop the Earth from warming and the Earth did not get the message, it responded by cooling. Not to worry, environmentalists who were blatantly wrong and tried to say that cooling is part of global warming, changed their golden goose agenda to climate change. Even though climate change is real, it is called seasons, critics of the climate change industry, of climatism, have been marginalized under the rubric of global warming heretic deniers.”
Climate Change Industry Depletes the Energy Market (Quixotes Last Stand) a report By Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh August 12, 2015

“World leaders, politicians, corporations, universities, and NGOs have been captivated by the climate change industry even though the theory of global warming has failed miserably and all the climate models were proven wrong. They declared war on fossil fuels and waged it with a vengeance at the expense of taxpayers and electricity users.”

“Dr. Steve Goreham, Executive Director of the Climate Science Coalition of America, and author of Mad, Mad, Mad World of Climatism, described the collateral damage from the war on hydrocarbons using Europe as an example of an “energy disaster unfolding.” He said, “there are 487 national climate change laws in 66 nations” and they are hurting the economies of those respective countries.”
Even though IPCC said that “burning biomass is carbon neutral,” the reality is that biofuels release as much or more carbon dioxide than coal does. And the trading of carbon on the carbon markets is failing. People can pay all the carbon footprint taxes in the world and it will not make a bit of difference in the actual CO2 in the atmosphere. It will just make the traders and the companies richer.”

“Dr. Goreham also mentioned that some countries imported wood from Alabama to burn as electricity generator instead of dirty coal. The Green Revolution has been so expensive for Europeans that subsidies were dropping in every area, followed by layoffs in the renewable industry. The wind industry in the U.S. gets 2.3 cents per kWh in tax credit in order to compete.”…

“Dr. Fred Singer, physicist and emeritus professor of environmental science at the University of Virginia, reminded us that the climate change industry does not take into account the CO2 emissions from operation and maintenance of renewables such as how often these devices must be replaced (solar panels, wind turbines, parts, lubricants), and the transmission costs. Wind and solar power does emit CO2 in the construction process, during the mining of the metals used, lubricants, etc.”

Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh concludes:
“Honest scientists say that we have enough fossil fuels reserves for centuries of use. In the world’s economy renewables should compete without subsidies, we should worry about the Smart Grid’s vulnerability from hackers, solar flares, and EMPs, we should conserve energy wisely, protect nature sensibly, and let the carbon credits scheme go into the trash bin of expensive hustles.”
the enemy of man is man (the full article)

Thus the CLIMATISM that is provoking a coming cataclysm in contemporary history, all in the name of subsidies, carbon credits, contracts, wind and solar developers, naive or stupid politicians, elections and re-elections, political legacies, human greed, and global wishful thinking in the name of money.

Stop These Things brings us news about the depth and breadth of the three decades of wind industry conspiracy to cover up the truth about IWTs and Infrasound (aided and abetted by the Ontario Government these latter years).

[quote] Starting in the early 1980s, a decade’s worth of research was undertaken by NASA into a series of large wind turbines (then being developed by NASA), which included a stellar cast of physicists, meteorologists, geophysicists, seismologists, engineers (both mechanical and acoustic), and psycho-acousticians. Part of that research involved a multidisciplinary effort to identify the causes of complaints made by neighbours in relation to the operation of those turbines: we refer to it as “the NASA research”, which also included work carried out by Neil Kelley.
[quote] In 1987, at a wind power conference in San Francisco, the wind industry was presented with the findings of NASA’s research; and told that these findings meant that dB(A) was an inappropriate method of measuring wind turbine noise, and the impact of that noise on neighbours. It was further told that low-frequency noise and infrasound were the dominant features of wind turbine generated noise, which would cause significant “annoyance” to neighbours.

The STT post continues to outline the symptoms associated with Infrasound (we know what they are, but not the Ontario government at the behest of wind developers).  The post continues to outline the Wind Industry cover up of the NASA findings.  That Industry sought to create its own Noise Guidelines in order to facilitate turbine development, and eventually sought to raise noise limits to higher dB levels so that larger and larger IWTs could be built.  The STT post links to a Timeline to illustrate the NASA research:
[quote] Each page of the TIMELINE gives a short run down of significant events (a headline and brief summary); contains images of key data or pages extracted from research papers referred to; some of those images are copies of the entire paper being referred to – these documents can be accessed for reading and printing by dragging your mouse over the image and clicking on the “pop out” window at the top right of the image (you will see a scroll-bar on those where a paper is reproduced). Below the images you will find links to papers, webpages, including the sources referenced and STT posts, for example (if the link does not work, simply copy and paste the URL into a fresh tab in your browser).

The World Comes Full Circle:[quote] The recent research that confirms the extensive work done by NASA, includes work carried out by:
Dr Paul Schomer, George Hessler, Rob Rand and Dr Bruce Walker at Shirley, Wisconsin in 2012 (available here);
Professor Colin Hansen and his team from the Adelaide University at Waterloo in South Australia during 2014 (see our post here); and
the groundbreaking research conducted by Steven Cooper at Cape Bridgewater in Victoria, also during 2014 (which has been recently published – see our posts here and here).
[links are in the original post].

CONCLUSION: the Original NASA research verified and expanded by recent research proves the Wind Industry’s Noise Guidelines are, IRRELEVANT.

Corporate Welfare is Green

The Ontario Liberals in Opposition used to go on about corporate welfare (subsidies from government to corporations) to match the NDP rants on the same.

The Ontario Liberal Government in power created the Green Energy policies that are now regulated law in the province. They hand out tax subsidies in the billions to Green Energy development of wind turbines and solar panel arrays. The beneficiaries of these handouts are almost exclusively corporations in the business of building the euphemistic Alternate Energy Generation.

The Consumer Policy Institute has published a paper (by Brady Yauch) detailing the scope of the Greening of Corporate Welfare in Ontario:
While the province’s renewable energy policy was presented as a win-win for local communities and regular Ontarians, the benefits from that policy have accrued to a small group of companies. Nowhere is this more evident than in the subsidies going to companies that own the windmills now dotting the province’s countryside.
Some 82% of all subsidies to wind generators have gone to foreign, out-of-province, or
multinational companies with annual revenues of more than $1 billion. Nearly 60% of all
wind subsidies have gone to companies with more than $10 billion in annual revenues.
Less than 10% of all subsidies to wind generators have gone to small-scale or local

The multinational companies and other big businesses receiving the lion’s share of these
subsidies have little to lose in the current environment. They receive a fixed, abovemarket
rate for their power, while ratepayers are left footing the bill – whether or not
such output is needed. Rather than becoming an engine of a new green economy, green
power has become a drain on ratepayers’ pockets.

Green-Washing Corporate Welfare to the Tune of $1.7 Billion
The reality of the province’s support for the wind sector – both before and after the Green Energy Act – has been exclusive and not one that includes all Ontarians. Big business, international corporations and their subsidiaries have received billions of dollars in wind subsidies as part of Ontario’s push to replace coal with renewable power. Using data from the province’s electricity market operator, this joint study by Energy Probe and Consumer Policy Institute1 estimates that at least $1.7 billion in wind subsidies have been given to wind farm operators in Ontario since 2006, the earliest date for data. 2 Eleven companies have received 90% of those subsidies. Around 82% of all subsidies to wind generators have been handed out to nine companies (or subsidiaries of those companies) – seven of them based outside of either Ontario or Canada – with annual revenues in excess of $1 billion. Nearly 60% of all wind subsidies have been funnelled to six companies with more than $10 billion in annual revenue. Small-scale and local wind generator companies have received 10% of all subsidies.
