ONTARIO GOTHIC (per Ontario Wind Resistance)

Ontario Gothic is a reference to Mary Shelley’s gothic story, Frankenstein, in a report by Rick Conroy in the Wellington Times, one that is very apropos the Industrial Wynne Turbine monsters.

If Shelley wrote her gothic horror story, “the work of a dark imagination fuelled by opioids“, Conroy naturally wonders, “what was Kathleen Wynne and her government smoking when they let loose their own man-made monsters across rural Ontario—in the form of industrial wind developers and speculators?

He reports, “Even if you buy the sentiment that their motivations were well-intentioned, the undeniable outcome of the Green Energy Act is that Kathleen Wynne and Dalton McGuinty have spawned armies of amoral monstrous corporate creatures and have let them loose to roam unfettered across the province. To wreak havoc in rural communities. To despoil the environment. To slaughter endangered species. To make folks sick“.

He goes on to observe how the McGuinty-Wynne axis (my description) has prepared the way for this by denying local democracy, by eviscerating environmental legislation to fast track developments what would otherwise have been rejected by local councils and defeated by existing laws. To put trademark its monster, the Ontario government has facilitated a rubber-stamp appeal process to ensure a blood supply to its monster (not to belabour a metaphor).

Near Chatham, folks believe the wind developer working nearby has poisoned their wells—allowing toxins into their drinking supply. They have done the testing. They have spoken out. They have protested. Marched on Queen’s Park. Kathleen Wynne has ignored them.“. Eschewing the name of, “Frankenstein” for their spawn (do doubt worried about copyright), they view it as a “necessary evil

Left without the protection of the province—without the safeguards that would protect them from any other development— these folks took matters into their own hands. In August, they began blockading the construction site— neighbours joining together to form a line against the threat to their drinking water.“. The Wynne-lose government, turns out, were able to rely on their legal cronies to set matters right: “…in a cruel blow, the developers— a Korean conglomerate and its American partner—won a court injunction barring any further blockades of the project. The judge said he wasn’t trying to muzzle opponents, but to “prohibit unlawful acts”.” Guess who pays the Judge”s salary?

The horror is on-going (a McGuinty-Wynne Serial), “Untethered by moral, ethical or community concerns, these corporate beasts consume and ravage everything they can get away with. Folks who have fought for years to protect the things our government was supposed to safeguard, have been left gasping in despair. Lacking legal remedies or protection, some have begun considering other means to protect their families, their communities and their land. If the government won’t protect them, they will do it themselves“.

Water fuel tax: $2.7 billion and climbing

Can you believe it? Another hidden tax! No, what?

The “water rental fee” is hidden in the electricity line on our bills to pay for the water used to generate electricity! I didn’t realize that the government, not nature, supplied the water over the falls, in the lakes and rivers to generate electrical power!!! So, I guess the tax is justified?

Parker Gallant writes:
As it turned out, in 2015 the water fuel tax was $345 million for the generation of 30.4 terawatts (TWh) and represented a cost to ratepayers that amounted to $11.35 cents per megawatt (MWh) or 1.14 cents per kilowatt hour of electricity generated. While the current government didn’t institute the tax, they have significantly raised it over the years. Back in 2002 the tax was $116 million for the 34.3 TWh generated or $3.38/MWh and 0.34 cents/kWh so it is now 3.3 times what it was the year before the Liberals gained power. …
One has to wonder how many other taxes and fees are hidden within our electricity bills that will come to light if we actually get an explanation of the GA [Global Adjustment] that is truthful and fully transparent!

No wonder Amazon is choosing Montreal for its Canadian operations: Power bankrupts…absolutely… in Ontario.

With Wynne, You Lose

Hydro Consumers hate the hydro bill [Anthony Furey, Toronto Sun], WHY?

When you stop using your electric stove in order to pay the bill, and you consume only $43 of power but your bill includes over $70 Delivery Charge; when you use $79 worth but your bill is over $171; and when you use about $50 worth and the bill and the Delivery Charge is $170; that’s when and how you learn to hate the Liberal Govt’s power scheme.

If you own a cottage, forget the $25 your used to pay a few years ago, the Delivery is now over $300!!! But you turned hydro off for the winter when you locked up and left the lake, the bill is still over $100 monthly.

“But what makes these fees so high — and what makes the actual usage fees higher than needed due to the hidden presence of a green energy adjustment fee hidden within residential rates — is all the regulatory and political decisions that have driven up the costs. No matter what people do to bring their usage down, they’re still punished with these fees.”

Dalton and Kathleen McWynnty are the perfect couple of ………. [fill in the blanks].  Welcome to their Ontari-ari-o, where the cost of power is calculated to fleece you.

Shafted

I had almost given up blogging (breaking wind), when Ms Wynne-lose gave us all a reason to keep blogging on (KBO, as Churchill used to say).

Never trust a Liberal, however, when he, she or it makes a promise. The Wynne-lose government never outdoes itself when it says it is helping the consumer, this time by reducing Hydro Bills by the 8% PST (rates will go up by more than that in the coming round of rate hikes, even more when added to the pending Carbon Tax.

We are still getting shafted, and have been shafted continuously from the initiation of McGuinty’s hare-brained Green Energy policies. I am still chafed by the fact that the gov’t’s “fart catchers” (as the defunct Frank magazine used to call them) never blinked when those policies produced legislation that eviscerated local political autonomy by imposing a Green Energy Act that disenfranchised electors from the process by prohibiting them a yea or nay in the planning, placement and operation of Wynne Turbines and Solar farms. Such a totalitarian imposition WAS PROOF ENOUGH THAT A BOGUS SYSTEM OF POWER GENERATION WAS BEING FORCED ON AN UNWILLING CITIZENRY (except in the “progressive” urban areas where no one was going to be affected by the monster whirlygigs, nor was anyone going to tell them that the monsters would produce unneeded power). Part of the Fart Catcher contingent was going to profit immensely from the scam, the wind developers. All of this was done by robbing tax payers and then giving away the product at less than the cost of production so that the billions wasted could never be recouped.

Ontario Wind Resistance has demonstrated how rural Ontario has been shafted, lo these many years, by a lying, cheating and stealing government of some of the people: “They overrode local planning rights by passing the Green Energy Act of 2009 under Wynne’s predecessor, Dalton McGuinty, then rammed industrial wind factories down their throats.” Then there are the human costs, the health problems, the deep destruction of flora and fauna, and the list goes on.

Yes, the end is still far, but now a little closer (if the main Opposition in Provincial Parliament can stop stumbling over its own stupidity).

You Think It’s Bad Now…

It’s going to get much worse, writes former Federal Cabinet minister, Joe Oliver:
“What explains the Ontario Liberal government’s $7 billion Climate Change Action Plan, which will infringe on people’s freedom, impose debilitating costs, set impossible targets and fail to produce meaningful reductions in GHG emissions? The only answer can be ideological fervour, divorced from economic or practical reality.” …
“This is not hyperbole. Bonnie Lysyk, the provincial auditor general, has set out the crushing burden of the government’s catastrophic blunders to date: $37 billion wasted on electricity above market price during the past eight years ($2,700 for each Ontario man, woman and child) with a further $132 billion to be racked up by 2032. Clearly, we are a peaceable kingdom, otherwise, a mob of outraged citizens would have by now gathered at Queen’s Park with pitchforks, demanding the immediate resignation of their failed nanny-state government.”

No surprises here. “But in Ontario, tens of billions of dollars wasted on partisan skulduggery and ideological obsessions barely register on the political radar.”

The Wynne-lose ideological franchise is a shocker: “Regardless, it is now going to get even worse. According to reports detailing the leaked climate plan, the premier praises it as “a transformation of how we look at our planet … that will forever change how we live, work, play and move.” This sounds like the boldest attempt to re-engineer society since Mao’s Cultural Revolution. Ironically, that revolution’s 50-year anniversary was greeted by official silence in China the same week as the climate leak.”

A plan worthy of Chairman McGuinty!!!

Homes heated by electricity and geo-thermal (which can’t heat to more than 20 degrees without electric backup heaters), then all buildings eventually heated the same way (an impossible task), a ban on natural gas (since denied), new vehicles electric or hybrid, gasoline engines will be rationed, cap and trade (you can’t pollute but you can trade credits for a licence to do so). The Federal NDP lept into absurdity with it’s new Leap policy, Wynne-lose wants to outdo them and leap beyond the future into the Void..

High taxes, rampant over-regulation, punishing power prices are killing and have killed much of the Ontario economy, health care is dying a slow death. Cui bono? Liberal Party hacks and backers, anybody who buys the climate change, the world is warming baloney. AND, as the Wynne Turbines have already proved: “The beneficiaries of our misfortune are Americans who buy our energy below cost and attract job-creating investments chased from Ontario.”

Ontario Green Energy Policies and Legislation are unconscionable and unconstitutional, why is there no Constitutional Reference case before the courts?

EDIT: There is a Reference regarding Prince Edward County proceeding slowly through the courts. See Comment below by Garth Manning.

Industrial Wynne Turbine

Hydro Rates Going Up, Again!. (Toronto Sun, Dec.30/15)

Start the New Year off right, pay more for Hydro… with Wynne you lose.
Due to Liberal incompetence, hydro bills skyrocketed 70% between 2008 and 2014 alone, with no end in sight.

From now on, the acronym IWT (industrial wind turbine) will be known as the Industrial Wynne Turbine, the cause of so many power rate increases, various job losses and industry shutdowns.
The Liberals’ answer is to sell 60% of Hydro One to the private sector for a quick cash fix, a move which will put the provincial utility beyond the scrutiny of the auditor general.

How bad is it? Look (from, Ontario Wind Turbines):
Ontario “Wynne” Turbines
Next 20 yrs will cost us $40,000 for Power
We pay more than any other Province, Power Rates by Province, Manufacturing is Leaving Ontario, more…

No end in sight, as long as Wynne keeps losing money over power generation.

HORSE MANURE

One of the main, if not the defining one, reasons for Green Energy is the Climate Scam (based on normal changing weather patterns as interpreted by all the (rich) Chicken Littles of the World). As a result, Ontario suffers terrible economic, social and medical problems because of Green Energy and we all suffer under this heavy load of Horse Manure (Goldstein, Toronto Sun). A heavy load dumped by Canada’s new Boy King and the Wicked Witch of the East, his fairy godmother:
Wind and solar power are simply not ready to replace the use of coal, oil and natural gas to produce energy. [and hydro & nuclear]
They aren’t reliable or efficient enough to deliver the power required to fuel modern industrialized countries like our own, or developing nations that want to become part of the first world, like China and India.
[and let us not forget the Towers of Power require diesel engines to run}

But we know this already, those of us who rail and demonstrate against the Whirligigs of the McWynne Mandate. It bears repeating, over and over again. And there was a similar scare in 1898:
…the Chicken Littles at the Paris conference should remind us of another gathering of similar worthies at the world’s first urban planning conference held in New York in 1898.
Back then, the delegates weren’t obsessed with fossil fuels but with horse manure. Literally.
In New York in 1898, 200,000 working horses each produced an average of 24 pounds of horse manure daily, meaning almost five million pounds of manure were being dumped on city streets every 24 hours.

The stuff was piled 60 ft high in city streets, and then came the electric street car and the gasoline engine to save the day (and eliminate the health problems posed by that much horse do-do). Science (not the bogus consensus “Science” of today’s climate crap), it is hoped, will save us from the Manure excreted at the Paris Conference and the regular dumps made by the UN. And let us not forget the BS and horse manure that passes for government in Ontario…

Corporate Welfare is Green

The Ontario Liberals in Opposition used to go on about corporate welfare (subsidies from government to corporations) to match the NDP rants on the same.

The Ontario Liberal Government in power created the Green Energy policies that are now regulated law in the province. They hand out tax subsidies in the billions to Green Energy development of wind turbines and solar panel arrays. The beneficiaries of these handouts are almost exclusively corporations in the business of building the euphemistic Alternate Energy Generation.

The Consumer Policy Institute has published a paper (by Brady Yauch) detailing the scope of the Greening of Corporate Welfare in Ontario:
While the province’s renewable energy policy was presented as a win-win for local communities and regular Ontarians, the benefits from that policy have accrued to a small group of companies. Nowhere is this more evident than in the subsidies going to companies that own the windmills now dotting the province’s countryside.
Some 82% of all subsidies to wind generators have gone to foreign, out-of-province, or
multinational companies with annual revenues of more than $1 billion. Nearly 60% of all
wind subsidies have gone to companies with more than $10 billion in annual revenues.
Less than 10% of all subsidies to wind generators have gone to small-scale or local
owners

The multinational companies and other big businesses receiving the lion’s share of these
subsidies have little to lose in the current environment. They receive a fixed, abovemarket
rate for their power, while ratepayers are left footing the bill – whether or not
such output is needed. Rather than becoming an engine of a new green economy, green
power has become a drain on ratepayers’ pockets.

Green-Washing Corporate Welfare to the Tune of $1.7 Billion
The reality of the province’s support for the wind sector – both before and after the Green Energy Act – has been exclusive and not one that includes all Ontarians. Big business, international corporations and their subsidiaries have received billions of dollars in wind subsidies as part of Ontario’s push to replace coal with renewable power. Using data from the province’s electricity market operator, this joint study by Energy Probe and Consumer Policy Institute1 estimates that at least $1.7 billion in wind subsidies have been given to wind farm operators in Ontario since 2006, the earliest date for data. 2 Eleven companies have received 90% of those subsidies. Around 82% of all subsidies to wind generators have been handed out to nine companies (or subsidiaries of those companies) – seven of them based outside of either Ontario or Canada – with annual revenues in excess of $1 billion. Nearly 60% of all wind subsidies have been funnelled to six companies with more than $10 billion in annual revenue. Small-scale and local wind generator companies have received 10% of all subsidies.

Watch the Film, No Charge

In Ontario, you have no choice, your home is your prison…

It will make you sick! Re-blogged from OWR and available on youtube.

Down Wind is the explosive documentary that examines Ontario’s controversial rush into wind farm development. Produced by Surge Media, Down Wind exposes how this Canadian provinces’ green energy dream turned into a nightmare for rural residents forced to live among the towering 50 storey turbines. We hear searing, personal stories of people experiencing mysterious health problems, insomnia, depression, even thoughts of suicide; their lives turned upside down by the constant noise and vibrations given off by the massive wind turbines. The documentary also reveals the staggering economic costs of these wind farms to taxpayers with huge subsidies going to big wind corporations. And how inside connections have made some government cronies wealthy, while rural communities suffer. The film aired on Canada’s Sun News Network.
